1. Intensive Korean Program

Transcript / Credit Issue

Basically, this language program does not grant any credit. Our partner universities must determine whether or not it will count for credit, so students are required to check with them in advance. However, there is precedent for most of our international exchange students, majoring in Korean studies, transferring credits from this coursework.

The Korean language course will not appear on the same grade report as regular semester courses, but is issued as a separate transcript directly from the Center for Korean Language and Culture. At the end of the program, students should ask the Language Center for several copies of their transcripts if needed.

※ More information about the Korean language course can be found on http://www.korean.ac.kr

Levels 1-6 are offered partially free for exchange students during the Fall & Spring Semesters. However, Level 7 is a special interpretation/translation course and is not offered for free to exchange students. For more information: www.korean.ac.kr.

The Intensive Korean Language Program runs Mon-Fri, 9am-1pm (200 hour certificate program). There is no language proficiency requirement for this program.

If you plan to take this program during the Spring or Fall semester, do not enroll in any regular classes during the Intensive Korean course time.

We recommend that students taking the intensive Korean language program only register for 1-2 regular courses, if any. This program is very intensive and time-consuming.

A minimum of 80% attendance is required for this program. If you fail to comply with this attendance requirement, you will be required to reimburse our office for the program fee. We recommend this program to students with Korea-related majors or who are serious and determined to learn the Korean language.

HUFS offers the Intensive Korean Language Program for free to exchange students during the Fall and Spring semesters.

Students who enroll in Summer 2020 will receive an invoice in April/May and will be instructed to pay the tuition in local currency at the HUFS on-campus bank. This fee cannot be paid internationally in advance.
