Scholarship for Outstanding New International Students

GPA-based Scholarship
Candidate Selection
All students who were enrolled (and attained a GPA) for the semester before scholarship selection are eligible. As all aforementioned students are eligible automatically, there are no individual requirements.
*Detailed criteria may differ according to major (e.g., limitations regarding the amount ofobtained major class credits, etc).
Payment Period: Reduced tuition is reflected on the tuition bill in February and August
Scholarship Amount:
President’s Scholarship: 100% tuition
Dean’s Scholarship: 40% tuition
Head of Department Scholarship: 30% tuition
Selection Criteria: 14+ credits / Higher than 3.5 GPA for the previous semester
GPA-based International Students Scholarship
Candidate Selection
International students who are in their 2nd - 7th semester.
Recipients of full-scholarships such as the 6.25 UN Korean War Descendent Scholarship, Korean Government Scholarship, Overseas Korean Foundation Scholarship, King Sejong Foundation Scholarship (etc.) are not eligible to apply.
Recipients of GPA-based scholarship are not eligible to apply.

1st Semester: End of March
2nd Semester: Early October

“우” Scholarship: 700,000 won
“수” Scholarship: 1,000,000 won
Selection Criteria
12+ credits
higher than 3.5 GPA for the previous semester
Topik Scholarship
Candidate Selection
International students who are in their 2nd semester-7th semester.
International students who have received TOPIK 5 or 6 certificates.
Recipients of full-scholarships such as the 6.25 UN Korean War Descendant Scholarship, Korean Government Scholarship, Overseas Korean Foundation Scholarship, King Sejong Foundation Scholarship (etc.) are not eligible to apply.
TOPIK scholarship for the same level can be obtained only once.

2nd semester: Early October

Selection Criteria: 12+ credits
Family Scholarship
Candidate Selection
Two or more siblings enrolled at Seoul or Global Campus at the same time
* Applicable to only undergraduate students at HUFS
Application Period
1st Semester: mid-March
2nd Semester: mid-September
Scholarship Amount: 1,000,000 won (total sum for all siblings, can be paid maximum two times during enrollment period)
Selection Criteria
12+ credits
higher than 2.00 GPA for the previous semester
Organization Activities Scholarship (Student Organization)
Candidate Selection
Students involved in independent student councils, campus media organizations, and other student bodies
* E.g. Student council, department student council, club associations, FBS, GSA, CSO, The Argus, school magazine editorial committee, etc.
Application Period: During the semester, submit documents to relevant organization
Scholarship Amount: Amount varies
Selection Criteria
12 credits during previous semester
2.0 or higher GPA
Each student organization has their own regulations—requirements vary.
7+1 Study Abroad Scholarship
Candidate Selection
Enrolled students who have been selected for the study abroad program by the Office of International Affairs (OIA)

Scholarship Amount: Full tuition at HUFS (scholarship recipient is responsible for paying tuition at the foreign institute)

Exchange Students
Global Korea Scholarship (GKS)
Funded by the Korean Government for Foreign Exchange Students
This scholarship program is organized to provide continual opportunities for international exchange students to study in Korea and delve into Korean culture. Any international student with academic merit is eligible to apply for this scholarship program. All incoming exchange students are automatically considered as candidates for screening. so there is no separate application form.
HUFS will select the top-qualified students within the given number of slots for each year.

Eligibility & Conditions
Students should be officially nominated by our international partner universities.
Students should take at least one regular semester course related to Korea during the exchange program.
Students are required to provide evidence (academic transcript) of grade point averages over 3.2 out of 4.0.
Current exchange students are not eligible to apply for this program.
Only undergraduate students are eligible to apply for this scholarship program.
Application Procedures
Exchange students should submit their exchange application packets before the deadline.
HUFS will screen & evaluate all applications received at the time of application to the exchange program.
HUFS will recommend a select number of students to the Korean government and receive final confirmation.
Final scholarship winners will be announced in late February/August through registered email.
Scholarship Benefits
Airfare reimbursement (round-trip)
Monthly stipend of KRW 500,000 (for 3 months)
Settlement allowance of KRW 200,000 for the first month (one-off payment)

Only native speakers of a language can apply
If selected as a tutor, you will meet with Korean students once a week to share your language and culture. You will also do a project together.
